Washed 07 polini x3 50 and now wont start

Postby clemsontigz » Fri Apr 02, 2010 2:42 pm

Man I just purchased a 07 polini for my son.. Ive raced all my life and im pretty polished when it comes to wrenching on bikes.. First off the guy that I bought the bike from was mixing the ration 60.1 I wanted to run 40.1 so I drained the gas and washed the bike up and put the tank back on an replaced with the proper fuel ratio and now the thing wont start.. I see that the spark plug is firing by the old placing the plug on the head trick.. I went and purchased a new spark plug and still nothing.. I removed the carb and cleaned and still nothing.. Im stuck scratching my head.. never had this problem before with the big bikes .. NEED SOME POiNTERS PLEASE

Check to see that you didnt get water in the air cleaner box. The two piece design will sometimes leave a opening and water will get in the carb. Also check ignition side cover to see if there is any moisture, I've never had a bike not start but sometimes they run like crap!!!

If you went from 60:1 to 40:1 you will need bigger jets...More oil = leaner.

Your pilot jet being to small will make it much harder to get started...Assuming the guy you bought it from had it jetted right @ the 60:1...

Do you have good compression?

Is the plug wet?

Is the spark seem to be a good strong spark?

Are you using the choke at all?

Where is your airscrew?
