Check ALL connections first.. Look for any possible signs of kinked wires. Split the wiring back and check if you suspect a spot. Especially check for any possible soldiered spot, where wires could've come loose. Check on the spark plug, that small screw-cap thingy, check it.. if that's loose, it will cause it to "break" up like that.
From there, are you sure you're not just running lean on top?? You may have a jetting issue.. how has it run before? Lower the clip (which raises the needle) one spot on the needle, though really you may need to fatten the main up one size. If not jetting, check for any air leaks.. around the reed boot area especially. Get some gasket material from an auto parts store, and cut some new gaskets for the reed area anyway. Put two.. one on each side of the reed cage. Then make sure your carb is attached snugly to the manifold/reed boot, so as not to suck air past there. But, don't wrench it so tight you ruin the boot.
