Postby mxbarkey » Thu Apr 29, 2010 3:58 pm

Does anybody know what the ohms checks are for the stator, coil,& CDI, and what what wires to ohm too? Trying to identify what component is bad.Any advice out there?
Thanks

I can't tell you the numbers, but I can tell you..

We have two 65s, and one we've had for two years, and the other for just over a year. And, have never had any of those components go out. Not the stators, the coils, or the CDI boxes. What we have had happen, has been the wires would get kinked or split under that outside black sleeve they put over the wiring. I'd say if you get some numbers to OHM out, and find a "dead" ignition system, then before replacing anything, check all the wiring first for breaks. Especially, where the wiring goes almost directly into the CDI cox. Those 4 wires are exposed from the side, and could get kinked easily.

That just may be it.Thanks for the input. Every time I have put a stator on our 50cc X3 I had soldered all the connections together cause of bad connectors.
Thanks

We have 2 07's. Had no spark two races ago on one of the bikes. Checked all connections and wires, still no spark. Had an old Stator in the parts box, and checked the ohm's. Was at about 570. Checked the one on the bike...zero. Changed it out, bike fired right up.

After we got home, I took the old stator that seemed dead, cut the wires close to the stator, as to illiminate the possibility it was the wire or connector. Checked out zero ohms. Through it in the garbage after removing the aluminim back plate. So, they will go bad. The bike had been really hard to start prior to it failing completely. Really had to kick it hard 3-4 times before it would fire. Was a real pain, because there was no chance of Son getting it started if he let it die on the track.
